28 Nov at JJS

Last Friday lifted a quite heavy archive box (didn’t have other choice, I was the only person in the room… meh…) AND accidentally pulled a little neck muscle. So, join the advanced bogu group at today’s keiko was not an option (unless I wanted to come home with a stiff neck like a zombie). Practice with the beginners are always “rough” they tend to hit the target with all their mighty power (think I need to make a note for them about tenouchi). Somebody hit me right at the knuckle … and I didn’t wear a kote. So… a tiiiny ouch…

Summary for beginners practice. Proper upper body posture from sizentai/kamae to sonkyo, Maai, Kiai, Footwork (okuriashi & fumikomi), Men-uchi, Kote-uchi, Kote Men-Uchi, Do, seme, correct position for after hitting. Suburi, suburi, suburi, suburi and suburi. I’m still having trouble with the shoulders when swinging the shinai specially for Men-uchi. Shoulders sometimes seem unnatural and stiff. Cut through. More relax.

National grading is in 2 more weeks so everyone is getting ready. More Kata and basic for everyone. This time the majority of participants maybe from Jakarta dan Bandung dojo.

Semangat!
